Affiliated Fellowships Doctoral Program September 13, 2024 at 12:00 PM PT The Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies offers Affiliated Fellowships each year to current and prospective full-time UBC graduate students regardless of citizenship or visa status.
Li Tze Fong Memorial Fellowship September 13, 2024 at 12:00 PM PT Fellowships of $25,000 (subject to change) are awarded each year through the Affiliated Fellowships competitions, made available by the University of British Columbia and the Li family in memory of Mr. Li Tze Fong.
CIHR Doctoral Research Awards September 13, 2024 at 12:00 PM PT The CIHR Doctoral Research Awards provide special recognition and support to students who are pursuing a doctoral degree in a health-related field.
Canada Graduate Scholarships Doctoral (CGS D) Program September 13, 2024 at 12:00 PM PT The Canada Graduate Scholarships - Doctoral (CGS D) program is a federal program of scholarships awarded through national competitions by the granting agencies: the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC).

Killam Awards for Excellence in Mentoring September 18, 2024 at 4:00 PM PT The Killam Awards for Excellence in Mentoring recognize outstanding mentorship of numerous graduate students over many years.

IODE War Memorial Scholarship October 1, 2024 The National Chapter of Canada IODE initiated War Memorial Doctoral Scholarships in 1918 to commemorate Canadians who sacrificed their lives for peace and freedom. Initially, bursaries were granted to children of men and women who lost their lives or who were permanently disabled while fighting for Canada. Today, applicants are judged on academic excellence and potential. Applicants must be Canadian citizens and in at least their second year of doctoral program at a Canadian or Commonwealth university.

ACM Doctoral Dissertation Award October 31, 2024 Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) established the Doctoral Dissertation Award program to recognize and encourage superior research and writing by doctoral candidates in computer science and engineering. The award is presented each June at the ACM Awards Banquet and is accompanied by a prize of $20,000 plus travel expenses to the banquet. All winning dissertations are published exclusively in print and electronic formats as part of the ACM Books Series, which includes distribution through the ACM Digital Library. Honorable Mention(s) may also be awarded, with a prize of $10,000 shared among recipients.
DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst) Scholarships and Research Grants October 31, 2024 Scholarships and grants are available for graduate students and post-doctoral researchers in all disciplines for study and research at institutions in Germany.
Senior Women Academic Administrators of Canada (SWAAC) Graduate Student Award of Merit Likely November 2024 Awards of $3,500 each will be awarded women graduate students who have demonstrated leadership while maintaining exemplary academic records. UBC may nominate one student to the 2020 Western Provinces competition.

Future Forests Fellowship Likely in November 2024 An annual $70,000 fellowship has been established by a private grant-making foundation. This prestigious fellowship will be awarded to an incoming PhD student in the Faculty of Forestry whose intended studies fit within one of the following areas of excellence within the Faculty: Forest Products Biotechnology; Bioenergy; Forest Genomics; Climate Change; Urban Forestry; Forest Management; Conservation; Forested Landscapes; Salmon Ecology; Forest Health; Forests and Indigenous Peoples; Forests and Human Health. The fellowship holder will receive this funding for up to four years and only one student may be in receipt of the fellowship at a time. The fellowship will be awarded on the recommendation of the Faculty of Forestry in consultation with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.

Killam Fellowship Travel and Research Allowance Likely in December 2024 The UBC Izaak Walton Killam Memorial Fund for Advanced Studies provides current Killam Doctoral Scholars and Postdoctoral Research Fellows with an allowance to promote travel for research and to attend and/or present at academic meetings.
International Tuition Award Likely in December 2024 The International Tuition Award assists international graduate students with their tuition fees if they are registered full-time in research-oriented master’s and doctoral programs.
Graduate Student Travel and Research Dissemination Fund No deadline; applications accepted throughout the year The Travel and Research Dissemination Fund provides funding support to a combined maximum of $500 per graduate student.
Graduate Support Initiative (GSI) Awards Likely in December 2024 The Graduate Support Initiative (GSI) is a program for funding graduate students through entrance scholarships, multi-year funding packages, tuition awards and scholarship top-ups.

Graduate Research Stipend Submissions accepted throughout the year To support the research undertaken by students who have been unable to travel to Canada due to COVID-19 restrictions, a Graduate Research Stipend (GRS) distribution process is being made available to allow supervisors to provide funding to these graduate students.
Graduate Covid Program Delay Tuition Award Ongoing Graduate Covid Program Delay Tuition Awards are provided to support graduate students whose academic and/or research progress was delayed by disruptions due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
