The "New Educational Law" implemented in 1995 established that four stages of higher education be introduced: "Specialist" (pre-University level), Bachelor, Master and Ph.D. It is expected that it will take some time before the reforms are fully functional in the various institutions. Eligibility for the Doctoral degree program at UBC requires completion of post-graduate study diploma with strong standing (undertaken after the Diploma Specialist). The various programs offered at Higher Education Institutes and Universities vary widely at the post-graduate level. As such, a careful review of the qualification is required to ensure it is an acceptable basis for admission to a Doctoral degree at UBC.
ECTS Credit System
3-year bachelor degrees for master's degree admission and 5-year master's degrees for doctoral degree admission are accepted at UBC. Please note that some countries may have both the old academic degrees and the new ECTS degrees.
