ABOUT
The Graduate Student Ambassador Program, run by the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, is a volunteer initiative that connects current graduate students with prospective and newly admitted students. The program offers online info sessions for applicants and pre-arrival support through webinars and in-person events like GradStart Orientation.
Current graduate students provide an authentic perspective, answering prospective students' questions and helping newcomers transition smoothly. Ambassadors co-host online info sessions and engage with new students at welcome events.
For prospective students, sessions focus on the application process, including writing strong statements of interest, contacting potential supervisors, and securing strong references. We also offer webinars on student life, covering topics like housing in Vancouver, budgeting, and work-life balance.
For incoming students, pre-arrival webinars provide essential guidance, including Grad Student AMA Panels, tips on living in Vancouver, and sessions with International Student Development (ISD).
