Last month the federal government announced the 2015-16 recipients of the prestigious Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship. Of the 166 recipients, 25 are pursuing graduate degrees at the University of British Columbia (UBC).
Our congratulations go out to our newest Vanier Scholars – 24 studying at UBC Vancouver campus and 1 at UBC Okanagan campus. These students represent the excellence of our graduate programs in Arts, Applied Science, Medicine, Science and Interdisciplinary Studies.
The Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships program is designed to strengthen Canada's ability to attract and retain world-class doctoral students. Vanier Scholars demonstrate exceptional leadership skills and a high standard of scholarly achievement. Scholarship recipients receive $50,000 per year for up to three years of research. The 166 new Vanier Scholars represent students from Canada, the United States, Europe, the Middle East, South America, Africa and Asia pursuing doctoral degrees at universities across Canada.
