Why did you decide to pursue a graduate degree?

I am interested in this area of Geology and wanted to learn about something in more detail. Potentially it will also improve work opportunities when I have finished.

Why did you decide to study at UBC?

Vancouver is a beautiful city with the kind of pace that suits me right now. Academically, the Earth Science department is very strong. MDRU has an excellent reputation worldwide.

What do you hope to accomplish with your research?

If successful, this will be a new way to identify and locate currently undiscovered mineral deposits, or even geothermal systems.

What are your future career goals?

To work in mineral or geothermal exploration, maybe to study some more.

What has been your most memorable Vancouver experience so far?

Watching the sun go down behind the mountains while sitting on Jericho Beach listening to Folk Fest.

What advice do you have for new graduate students?

You'll get charged for things that seem totally unreasonable compared to back home, learn to accept it quickly! They work you hard here but place a lot of importance on social life too.
