Rossi Billie Velapatino
Why did you decide to pursue a graduate degree?
During my undergraduate studies I discovered my passion for science, particularly in the area of infectious disease. The fact that my country, as well as other developing countries, has a high prevalence of disease with high public health impact furthered this passion. Therefore, my interest for knowledge and to expand my technical and non technical skills in this area made me decide to pursue a graduate degree.
Why did you decide to study at UBC?
UBC is one of the best universities in Canada and because of the nature surrounding Vancouver, very impressive!
What do you hope to accomplish with your research?
The knowledge gain through of my research will ultimately contribute to the development of potential therapeutic targets or more appropriate treatment for infectious caused by pathogens in disease such as Cystic Fibrosis.
What are your future career goals?
The knowledge gained during my research as a graduate student will be of immense importance and will be critical for my success as a professional educator and researcher, my ultimate career goals.
What has been your most memorable Vancouver experience so far?
Hiking in Garibaldi Park so far.

Get involved with activities that you like
