Arthur Unknown is a realistic middle-grade novel that explores themes of expectation andhonesty in the world of a smart, funny, and socially awkward student learning to navigate thenew, turbulent waters of junior high school. English class assignments, school newspaperarticles, emails and reading journal responses tell the story of Arthur Bean, a grade seven kiddesperate to win the city-wide short story contest. The problem is, he’s kind of out of ideasright now. In a moment of desperation, he steals the story of his secret love, his creativewriting partner Kennedy Laurel. When both stories get chosen as final contest submissions,Arthur needs to find a new story. A solution comes from an unlikely ally, Arthur’s tutoringpartner and bully Robbie Zack, but at a price.
